A report by NGO HAYAT entitled 'Malaysia's Death Formula' argues that Malaysia's drug trafficking laws disproportionately punish vulnerable couriers while those who organise and profit from the trade often avoid accountability. The report questions whether legal doctrines and judicial practices are making it too difficult for exploited couriers to prove they were unaware they were carrying drugs. • Penan communities push back against Baram dams: More than 100 representatives from 40 Penan communities have rejected proposed hydroelectric dams along the Tutoh River in Baram, warning that the projects could threaten their ancestral lands, livelihoods and cultural heritage.
