With Deepavali just around the corner, we’re exploring a different kind of celebration, one built around closeness between musician and listener. Kacheri is a centuries-old tradition of intimate musical gatherings from Tamil Nadu, and two siblings have brought their own version of it to Kuala Lumpur, pairing live Carnatic, Tamil and Hindi film music with home-cooked food. Charumathi Yogarajan, co-founder of the KL Conservatory, and her brother Murali Prasad Yogarajan, creative director of the Kacheri series, join us to talk about how the series began and what an evening of Kacheri has to offer.
