The buildings that sprung up in our capital city in the decade post-independence shaped what our nation looks like today. We journey back in time to spotlight the untold stories behind the construction of Merdeka era projects and what they still mean to us today. We speak to architect and urban historian, Dr Lai Chee Kien. Chee Kien previously wrote “Building Merdeka”, which described 10 Merdeka era icons, as well as “The Merdeka Interviews” which consisted of interviews with architects, engineers and artists involved with those projects.
